It generates alternating current (AC) which is then converted to direct current (DC) by the vehicle's electrical system.The alternator supplies electrical power to recharge the vehicle’s battery.Alternators have built-in voltage regulators that control the output voltage to maintain a consistent voltage level (typically around 14 volts) regardless of engine speed or electrical load.The alternating current generated by the alternator’s stator windings passes through diodes within the alternator, which convert it to direct current.
